Garmin mapinstall devices1/9/2024 ![]() Instead of a two hour process, the whole process took less than 10 minutes. The Garmin MapInstall recognized the SD card as a place to transfer the maps to. I first removed the SD card from my Garmin by removing the batteries and extracting the SD Card. To make a long story short, I updated the maps using the SD card installed in my Garmen. Kinda funny thing, using the Garmin through a Windows Virtual Machine running on the Mac, it worked as expected. I learned that the Garmin USB Drivers are slow on the Mac. Or at least that is what the progress bar said it would do. I had attempted to install Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington maps on my Garmin GPSMap 60CSx. I have tried over the past couple of weeks to get it to work. I used Garmin MapInstall for the first time today with success. I don't own a Mac, but transferring all of CityNav NT to my 60CSX takes about 2 1/2 hours if I write to the GPSr (USB 1.x), but only 1/2 hour if I write to the mSD in a USB2.0 card reader. Which GPS unit? If MapInstall can write to a card reader as well the unit, you may save significant time by having it install the maps to the mSD card. Or maybe it has something to do with City Navigator Europe 2010.ĭoes anybody else have this problem with Mapinstall? Why is it taking so long this time? Maybe I chose more tiles than last time (Mapinstall doesn't say how many tiles have been chosen: it just gives an indication of the total size, a bit less than 2GB in this case). ![]() I'm going to have to leave it running overnight. At the moment it's telling me that it needs 4 hours and 36 minutes to finish, but since it told me two hours ago that it needed 4 hours and 22 minutes to finish, I'm not inclined to believe it. I know it's not frozen, since the progress bar is moving, even if at much less than a snail's pace. I started the map installing process about nine hours ago and it's still on the "Preparing Map Data" stage. I've used it a few times and already been annoyed by its slowness, but today it is slower than ever. ![]() ![]() I have a number of screen shots available if this helps although all the errors have been written above. On Macintosh, as far as I know, the only way to load maps onto the GPS unit is with the Garmin Mapinstall program. I am at work at the moment so don't have access to the garmin 610t. So nothing has been downloaded, nothing installed.and I cannot update/change my maps. When i go to the C:/Program Data/Garmin folder, there is a Maps is empty. The program failed to install the requested maps to your computer. I am told there is a re-install map version available.BINGO thinks I.I select it.i go through the full download/install and then receive the following error: Ok.So, i go to the Garmin website, the onyl option left is to download again - i choose the 2nd option to download a specfic downlaod and to keep the installation files. Undeterred.i use the same application and attempt to 'switch region' but get the same error. I switched off my AV and Firewall but get the same issue. This constantly now tells me that the Garmin servers are currently experiencing difficulty. Hmm, ok, so I try again using the GARMIN lifeTime updater to see if I can get a complete mapupdate and start again. There is a facility there to 'add' unlocked map data which i obtain from MyMaps and I get the unlock code and 'ADD' it to the list of managed maps.I cannot imnport anything because I cannot locate any ucx (?) files. Ok, so in mapsource, i click on utilies and Manage Maps. Hmm, so i open MapSource (which USED to show the complete Euro maps and now from device only shows my waypoints). Please contact the application's support team for more information This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Program: C:\program Files (x86)\Garmin\MapInstall.exe Please install one or more MapSource products and start MapInstall again. Opening MapInstall results in: MapInstall could not find any installed products. I updated yesterday and then realised i was only using a 'part of europe' which i'd previously set up using mapsource or mapinstall.Īnyway, as I had a 4gb SD card ins talled, i tried to install complete Europe map but it said there wasn't enough space on the the device or the card.so being 'clever', i re-formatted the SD card. I have a nuvi610t for which i'd bought the lifetime updater.
